If you haven't seen the Vice documentary on Arto, go watch it here.

Artist's statement:

Photography found me through skateboarding. In the early 2000s, my life was split between trying to land tricks and figuring out how to capture them. One obsession fed the other. I learned photography from epic skate trips and being surrounded by some of the best skate photographers in the world. I figured it out by watching, asking too many questions, burning through film, and acquiring a variety of cameras.

My friend Antton was there from the beginning. When I found a photo of the two of us at Helsinki Bike Path in the summer of 2001, something clicked. That image sent me digging through the crates, and this show is what came out.

I hope you enjoy the ride.

Mahalo!
